The correct dosage and the right amount of covering material are essential to promote ideal germination times and optimal results.
Various materials to meet specific requirements
Depending on the type of seed and the geographic area in which the customer operates — taking into account agronomic traditions, prevalent crops, and material availability — it is possible to use different covering solutions:
Vermiculite
A natural mineral that, when heated, expands into light and porous flakes. Excellent for retaining moisture and nutrients, it is sterile, easy to dose, and ideal for promoting uniform germination.
Peat
Organic material derived from the natural decomposition in marshy environments, available in various particle sizes. It has a high moisture retention capacity and creates an ideal environment for seed growth, also thanks to its slightly acidic pH.
Perlite and sand
Perlite is an expanded volcanic rock, very light and granular, that improves substrate drainage and aeration. It is often combined with sand to achieve the ideal texture.
Coconut fiber (or cocopeat)
Derived from the coconut husk, it is a sustainable and eco-friendly solution. It has a neutral pH, retains moisture well and provides good drainage, making it an increasingly popular alternative to peat.

Suitable equipment for each material
To achieve effective results, each material requires the most suitable tool:

Automatic recovery of excess material
An optional automatic recovery system with hopper positioned under the work area is available. This system collects excess material and feeds it directly back into the raw material tank. Without this device, recovery must be performed manually.
